I got up this morning and took a walk. Absolutely beautiful outside. About 70 and dry. I came back, showered and headed over to see Cowboy.
He was rather cranky today. I asked him if he wanted to go outside and he said no and then as soon as I sat down and started reading the paper he said "Are you ready to go outside?". He refused to use his walker so we went out without it. He did pretty well. He declared "I don't need it" and what are you going to do?
We "deadheaded" the flowers and and walked around for a while. There were other folks outside and it was a very pleasant morning. We sat on a bench and visited with some of the other residents for a while. The nurse came out to get his sugar reading he refused to do it. She didn't push the issue. I went in and talked to her and learned he had refused to take his meds or to have his sugar taken for two days. Not sure why I wasn't notified, although I don't know what I could have done.
We went in and had lunch and he ate pretty well. He insists he no longer needs his meds or his walker and to leave him alone. I hope this is a temporary problem. It could be serious if he continues to refuse to cooperate.
I came home agitated and frustrated after trying to talk to him without feeling that I had got through to him at all.
I had a call from JC Penney that the draperies were in so drove down to pick them up and then came back by Kohl's. Had to do something to occupy myself. I had a $10 card and a 15% off card so bought a 4th of July themed T-shirt for our neighborhood cookout on the 4th. Couldn't get interested in doing more so came on home.
Got a call from my friendly neighborhood mechanic today. They have completed all the work on the car except for a gasket that they are having trouble finding. He hasn't given up yet but this could turn out to be a problem. There is an oil leak that requires the gasket to fix. Here's hoping.
I am sick of fast food, I am sick of car troubles, I am sick of worrying. It is time for a holiday. Thank goodness there is one right around the corner.
Happy Independence Day to everyone.
