Wednesday, July 24

My youngest daughter's oldest son came with his family on Saturday.  We had a nice visit.  I thought he was going to take my electronic piano home with him but he decided it was too heavy for him to get up the stairs at his house and he chose not to take it home.  No biggy.   Maybe later.  I also asked him to help me take the top off the Maserati.  Unfortunately, it takes two strong people and I am not one so we had to abandon that as well.  Will have to get some help at some point.

We had a nice visit.  We went out to eat Saturday evening and then "Grandma" went to bed and they stayed up a bit.  I gave them my king size and the master bedroom so was less comfortable than usual on the fold out in the front room but did OK. His wife is 8 months pregnant so felt like it was the right thing to do.   Had a bit of a "crick" in my neck come Sunday morning.  I made them a big breakfast and by the time we did that, had showers, etc.  it was time to get on the road.

We went over to see Cowboy and they spent about two hours visiting with him.  He knew my grandson who he has been very close to since he was born but didn't recognize his wife and children.   He seemed to really enjoy that we came to see him.

On Monday I drove to Austin with the other band members to our keyboard players house and practiced for a couple of hours.  Very nice practice.  Got to see her new house and the plans she has for the yard.

On Tuesday, I went to Austin to meet with an opthomologist who does laser cataract surgery and also lasik. I learned that I am eligible for Medicare for the surgery on both eyes.  One of my eyes is basically useless so he suggested we do the one that we can do some good for.  He is telling me that this procedure will leave me not needing glasses for distance but only reading glasses for reading and such.  Sounds wonderful; however, since I only have one good eye it is a risk.  Also, Medicare does not cover this new laser procedure so would cost thousands.  Am thinking about it.  Am going to have to have cataract surgery in any event but could go the traditional route.

Today I went to see Cowboy and a friend and I played for him and the entire memory unit group.  They seemed to really enjoy it.  We did some old 40's and 50's tunes.  I also took Cowboy a new remote control.  Am working on some way to keep it where it can't disappear like the other one.  Maybe some type of pocket off his chair or something.  Will be working on that.

I am rather tired tonight.  Watched some of American's Got Talent but have grown a bit bored with it.  Going to bed with a good book.
